The same L.J. Smith who wrote "The Vampire Diaries" and what I believe was called "The Circle of Three"?

Yup yup yup! The very same ;D
She also wrote the Forbidden Games trilogy *drools at the thought*, and the Night World series. The Night World stories are pretty good, except they ALL revolve around the main character finding their soul mate and just "falling in love" in less than a week. But for vampire/witch/shapeshifter/werewolf stories they're good. Just try to block out the romance.
Though I haven't read the Circle of Three. I don't think they are as popular, because I've only found The Vampire Diaries and Night World reprinted recently (cool covers for the Night World, unfortunately the girl on the Vampire Diaries looks way too much like Paris Hilton). And everyone loves the Forbidden Games anyway.
And now I'm rambling.

It suprises me to see that there are more members on here from the UK than there are from Australia. Well done Kim, overtake the world with your books.

I remember coming across The Vampire Diaries when I was about 12 (good god that's 13 years ago), I found them in my local bookshop. Only about a year later I found The Circle of Three, and while it was okay it wasn't half as good as The Vampire Diaries. I waited for something new to come out for ages and I didn't find anything. I then kinda moved on to adult horror and fantasy. Maybe it's time I revisited LJ Smith again.
In The Vampire Diaries I had a huge crush on Damon (I think I got the name right, anyway, the brother who wasn't Stefan). I think he was my first real character crush.

Name (or alias): Bella. Location: A little country town near Melbourne, Australia. Favourite of Kim's books: Hmm, well, The Resurrectionists was the first book of hers that I read, and I'm very very fond of it, but I also particularly enjoyed The Autumn Castle - I really love the simultaneous bleakness and lushness of it, it's truly a grim fairytale. The Resurrectionsts, however, stuck in my mind like only a handful of other books have - I finished it at about 3 in the morning and was so frightened of the Wraiths that I sat shivering on the couch, watching old Black Sabbath videoclips until my dad got up and it was safe for me to put my feet on the floor... Favourite of Kim's characters: I adore Sacha (I don't know how much of that adoration is due to the fact that he very much like a friend of my whom I have a deep and secret crush on) but I just love his laid-back casualness, his seriousness and intenseness, his contentedness, woah, too many -ness words, anyway, I'm sure you get the point. I love Maisie as well, she's so incredibly real - nervous and frieghtened of her mother, yet brave when push comes to shove. Virgil is another favourite of mine - there is something just so intensely appealing about tortured poets... Other authors you enjoy reading: Glen Cook, Holly Black, Philip Pullman, Anne Rice, Christopher Rice, Garth Nix, Isobelle Carmody, C.S. Lewis, Margaret Mahy, Emily Bronte, Neil Gaiman, China Mieville, Angela Carter, Tobsha Learner, Mervyn Peake, Kaori Yuki, Cameron Rogers, Lemony Snickett, Victor Kelleher, and on and on it goes... Any other interests: Hmm, many... so, just a few: writing (poorly. All my stories seem to end up with semi-naked vikings and make-out sessions dangnabbit!), archery, lazing about reading in my hammock, drawing manga, anime, theatre, films, metal - especially Zeppelin Opeth and Virgin Black, mythology, mystery, vikings, Norway, fairy-tales, and lots of other random and crazy stuff. Wow, this has gone on way too long - and all I meant to say was "Hi All, what a pleasure to discover this little corner of the web."

Hey Hellion, here's hoping we do get along - though with both liking Zeppelin AND Neil Gaiman there's just so much potential for rambling and random fangirl/boy conversations. Also - does your interest in Brit Crime Fiction include Ian Rankin? I've just read Fleshmarket Close and absolutely loved it. And what do you think of Val McDermid? I thought the Wire in the Blood tv series was absolutely spellbinding, but I've found the actual books to be a little lacklustre. Hmm, sorry about the intense reply - and all in response to a simple music observation!

Val McDermid is the best Brit crime writer since Ruth Rendell and Ian Rankin's no slouch either . I was introduced to Wire In The Blood via the TV series and find the books to be far superior (rather like Dalziel and Pascoe) but I love what Robson Green brings to Tony Hill's character. If I had my way he'd be the next Doctor Who. His intellectual dithering makes him seem not quite of this world, yes? Val Mc Dermid and Minette Walters are both coming to Writer's Week in a couple of months. If you're in Adelaide around March, get yourself down to the Torrens Parade Grounds and look for the guy in the black T-shirt elbowing his way to the front of the autograph queue . One more thing before I get back to work, which is your favourite Sabbath lineup? I'm a Tony Martin era fan myself. If you haven't heard it already, grab their 1990 album "Tyr" for all your metallic and mythological needs.
