For my first real post I'd like to tell everyone about a chance for Kim's fans (and those who just love sci-fi , fantasy, horror etc.) to attend a convention in Melbourne from 4th - 6th of August. As well as being fun, you get the opportunity to hear Kim talk about such things as "Fantasy and Fairytale", "A Catalogue of unnatural creatures?", the launch of the Horror Writers Association and Shadowed Realms, and even a 20 minute Author Reading! If anyone is lucky(?) enough to be in, live in , or just keen enough to travel to Melbourne then, I can thoroughly recommend this convention to them. It's not all that cheap- see details at www.continuum.org.au for more info, but hey folks,it's Kim!

Damn my living in Adelaide and being too poor/generally useless to travel!! Sounds like a fantastic (in the literal sense of the word) weekend and I hope everyone who attends will have a great time. I also hope all you Melbournites will be going to see Queensryche at The Palace on July 14th. Another once in a lifetime opportunity that geography dictates I'll have to miss

Alas, Continuum was last year! I think they still haven't moved the site for 2006.

Abject apologies to all! It seems that absent a working time machine the wondrous experience that was Continuum 2005 is inaccessible to all. In my defence, the program I was mentioning was left there so people could see what sort of topics etc. happen at a convention. Is that the scrabbling of Wraiths I hear above me, and the eerie wailing of disappointed fans? Yes!! (Except for the Wraith part). The only consolation I can offer is the suggestion that you go to google and put in the magic words articulate conjure 2006, and that will take you back in time to earlier this year to the convention in Brisbane, where you can find an interview with Kim and photos too! (There is even one of me sitting beside author Cory Doctorow at the Conjure launch, and from my smile I guess Kim must have been doing her welcome speech in her usual gracious and amiable way!) All the best David
